DLL Errors

If your computer is driving you nuts with DLL errors, read on. DLL files are shared files that enable a variety of programs to carry out certain functions. Software developers use DLL files because it saves them a great deal of coding and reduces redundancy for computer users. For example, the print function that you use in all of your various software programs. Instead of each software program having its own unique printing codes, they take advantage of a shared DLL file that contains the necessary instructions. As a result, their software is smaller thus saving you hard drive space.

Everyone is happy – until DLL errors occur. DLL errors can occur due to file corruption, new software installations, and poor uninstalls. When an important DLL file goes missing, gets overwritten by newer or older versions, or becomes corrupt, your software programs no longer function properly.

Before running out and buying the latest version of your malfunctioning software, you can attempt to repair the DLL errors. Oftentimes, if you just uninstalled a program and notice DLL errors, reinstalling the program will reinstall the required DLLs and your problems will be solved. You can then uninstall the program again but this time, don’t allow the uninstaller to remove shared files.

Another way to combat DLL errors is to clean the Windows registry. The registry contains instructions and information about everything on your PC including paths to the DLL files. If the path becomes corrupt or is pointing to the wrong file, DLL errors occur. In addition, spyware and viruses can take their toll. Thousands of potential registry errors can bog down a computer and overwhelm the operating system.

Even computers that are functioning at an acceptable level can have an inefficient registry. It’s only a matter of time before the registry grows to a point where performance will degrade.

Cleaning out the registry manually is not an option. It would be virtually impossible for the average computer user to identify incorrect entries or tell the difference between valid or invalid registry values. In addition, using regedit is extremely dangerous to the health of your computer. There is no need to compromise the integrity of your computers registry in order to perform this task. Instead, try a registry cleaner utility

These programs are designed to automatically repair thousands of registry problems including DLL errors. Regular updates from the software developers keep it on the cutting edge of technology. Most importantly, it has safeguards such as registry backups to ensure that your PC registry cleaning routines are safe.

If registry cleaning sounds complicated, you are right, it is. But you do not have to worry about the complexities because a registry cleaner handles them with ease on your behalf. Using this kind of software is faster and safer than trying to edit the registry manually because a good registry cleaner will not remove something its not supposed to. It goes into your Windows registry and scans it in search of invalid entries, corruption, missing files, incorrect paths, invalid Active X controls and a huge variety of other known registry problems. All of this occurs in just a few minutes.

On this site you will find a side by side comparison of the best registry cleaners on the web, so you can make an informed choice.  This indispensable software keeps working for you when you enable scheduling and automatic scans. By cleaning up your registry, you will enjoy a high performing PC that is free of errors!

Five Signs Your Registry Needs Cleaning

#1 Applications fail with cryptic error messages.

In the good old days of Windows 95, many users did not immediately realize what to blame for these failing applications. Indeed, the installation base was quite diverse back then, with some traits remaining up to this day: have you noticed how the installation wizard of every game seems to check for DirectX ?

Nowadays, almost any application which suddenly ceases to work, displaying an error you cannot make sense of and which is not covered in the FAQ is almost always a sign of a failing registry, especially if we are talking about a slightly older application, which still uses the Windows Registry to store almost every kind of option. Using a good registry cleaner could cure this kind of problem in a matter of seconds.

#2 System bootup times are unusually long.

The Windows Registry stores a huge set of system wide settings, many of them having to be accessed during the boot sequence. If the registry is very big, the settings cannot be accessed very quickly, and the boot sequence is slowed down.

Of course, a bloated registry is only one of the reasons why the system will boot slowly, but it should be your first suspect.

#3 Installation of new software is slow.

This is one of the prime signs of worry, and in fact it is almost always linked with a bloated or corrupted registry. If copying files seems to go well, but the final stages of every installation are very slow and seem to cause your system to freeze, this is almost always a sign that the installation program has difficulties in writing settings to the Windows Registry. This problem is even more obvious nowadays, when hard drives, CD and DVD drives are fast enough to allow files to be copied extremely fast.

#4 Uninstalling software is slow and unreliable.

Directly linked with the slow installation problem are the various problems which may arise when uninstalling applications. A prime sign of registry cleaning being required is an Add/Remove Programs dialog which is full of programs that you no longer have on your computer. Their presence indicates that their registry entries had not been removed when you uninstalled the program. This is almost always a sign that your registry needs cleaning.

#5 New settings are slow to apply.

If any setting you change in the Control Panel seems to take ages before being applied, it may be a sign that your registry needs cleaning. Many of the options in the Control Panel have correspondents in a Windows Registry key, and a bloated registry can make applying these settings very slow.

Some settings are of course inherently slow to apply, such as networking settings. However, if you notice that all settings are slow to apply, and the system seems to freeze each time you click "Ok" or "Apply" in a Control Panel window, the Windows Registry can be at the top of your list of suspects.

Summery

In any of these cases, it is best to run a quick scan with a good registry cleaning program, such as Registry Easy. Although such advanced programs can work wonders, there are sy the best of them, which is why experts constantly repeat their recommendation to regularly scan and maintain your registry, at least once every week. Just like a doctor would say, it's better to prevent than to treat. The easiest way to do this is by using a good registry cleaner.
